7 Natural Remedies That Reliefs a Hangover

Overindulgence in alcohol causes dehydration, affects digestion and causes blood sugar levels to drop, which leads to a wide range of symptoms of a hangover. The many harmful toxins found in alcohol requires detoxification in order to protect your brain, kidney, and liver from damage. What better way to deal with a hangover than to eat and drink nature’s effective and readily available remedies.

1. Water

Alcohol consumption dehydrates the body leading to an accumulation of toxins. Re- hydrating your body constantly is one of the most effective ways of getting rid of the symptoms of a hangover. Water is a natural and effective remedy that will help dilute impurities from the body as well as hydrate it. Drink eight to ten glasses of water.

2. Honey

The high levels of potassium in honey make it effective in the digestion of alcohol. Take about three teaspoons of this sweet remedy after every hour until the effects of the hangover go down. Another effective way of using honey is by mixing it with a cup of boiled water and lemon juice or simply spreading it on a slice of bread.

3. Bananas

The fruit is very rich in potassium. Alcohol depleted potassium from the body and therefore bananas will help restore this essential mineral back quickly. Eat a banana or two to help with the hangover.

4. Tomato Juice

Fresh tomato juice has a type of sugar known as fructose that quickens the digestion of alcohol in your body. Drink a glass of tomato juice with some lemon juice for relief.

5. Eggs

Eggs contain an amino acid called L-cysteine which helps get rid of toxins from your body. You can choose to eat an omelet, boiled or scrambled eggs for breakfast.

6. Peppermint

This herb helps remove gas from your stomach and in effect relaxes it. Add one to two teaspoons of dried peppermint in a glass of boiling water. Alternatively, Add five to ten leaves of the herb in boiling water and drink the tea.

7. Sleep

Giving your body a proper rest is one of the best ways that will help reduce the effects of alcohol in your body. Sleep as much as possible.
